빛과 어둠의 이원성을 넘어

Beyond the duality of light and darkness.

“Tamaso mā jyotir gamaya.” - 어둠에서 빛으로 인도하소서 (우파니샤드의 지혜)

현자들은 어둠을 거부하지 않았습니다. 빛과 그림자는 둘이 아니라 같은 의식의 한 측면임을 알았기 때문입니다.
어둠은 빛의 적이 아닙니다. 어둠의 깊이가 빛에 대조와 다양한 형태의 변화를 부여합니다. 그림자가 없다면 빛은 윤곽도, 의미도, 계시도 없습니다.

현자들은 마음과 달리 순수한 자각은 선택하지 않고 존재하는 모든 것을 비춘다는 것을 알았습니다. 선과 악으로 구분하지 않고, 둘 다 빛으로 품습니다. 기쁨과 슬픔, 명료함과 혼란, 팽창과 수축을 하나로 묶습니다.

산스크리트어로 푸르나트바(pūrṇatva)는 온전함, 즉 그림자조차 없는 완전함을 의미합니다.

부처님은 그것을 “있는 그대로의 사물”이라고 불렀습니다.
도교에서는 이를 음양의 균형이라고 불렀습니다.
바가바드 기타에서 크리슈나께서는 “나는 모든 존재 안의 빛이요, 또한 모든 것을 회복시키는 잠이다.”라고 말씀하십니다.

따라서 진정한 자각의 빛은 그림자를 거부하지 않고, 오히려 받아들이고 구원합니다.
그것은 두려움의 근원을 순수한 자각인 자아와의 사랑과 합일을 갈망하는 데서 찾습니다.

자각은 빛과 그림자의 상호작용이 삶의 무한한 행위인 영원한 증인입니다. 깨어난다는 것은 어둠 위로 떠오르는 것이 아니라, 어둠 또한 빛난다는 것을 깨닫는 것입니다.

Beyond Duality of Light and Dark

“Tamaso mā jyotir gamaya.” - Lead me from darkness to Light (Wisdom of the Upaniṣads)

The sages did not reject darkness — for they knew that Light and Shadow are not two but one aspect of the same Consciousness.
Darkness is not the enemy of light; it is its depth that gives the light contrast and variations of various forms. Without the shadow, the light has no contour, no meaning, no revelation.

The sages saw that, unlike the mind, pure awareness does not choose; it illuminates all that is. It does not separate things into good and evil, but it holds them both in light. It unites joy and grief, clarity and confusion, expansion and contraction.

In Sanskrit, pūrṇatva means wholeness — the completeness that lacks nothing, not even the shadow.

Buddha called it “things as they are”.
The Taoists referred to it as the balance of yin and yang.
In the Bhagavad Gītā, Kṛṣṇa says: “I am the light in all beings, and I am also the sleep that restores.”

Thus, the true Light of Awareness does not reject the shadow; it accepts and redeems it.
It sees the root of fear as longing for love and unity with the Self that is pure awareness.

Awareness is the eternal witness where light and shadow’s interplay IS the infinite act of life. To awaken is not to rise above the dark, but to see that the dark also shines.
