Building on magnetic hyperthermia technology, researchers have created synthetic cells that can manufacture drugs inside the human body when activated by external magnetic fields. These programmable biological factories produce medications exactly when and where they're needed.
The synthetic cells contain both drug synthesis machinery and magnetic nanoparticles that generate heat when exposed to specific magnetic field patterns.
